Mario Suarez of MAS Design and Planning is a versatile design and planning professional with over three decades of extensive experience in both the commercial and residential fields. His work experience encompasses a wide variety of projects acting as a designer, project manager, and site director.
Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina he attended the University of Buenos Aires, graduating from the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning, and has post-graduate studies that include the Alternative Use of Older Structures from Harvard University-Graduate School of Design. Mr. Suarez is also a licensed certified general contractor in the State of Florida.
While in Argentina, he worked in partnership with Mazzoli – Suarez – Mendoza Architects, acquiring extensive experience in the fields of architectural design, construction and site direction. Mario holds a registration / license from the Professional Council of Architecture and Urban Planning in Argentina. He also taught architectural design at the University of Buenos Aires and served as the Technical and Administrative Director for the City of Buenos Aires’ building department.
Mr. Suarez’s work experience also encompasses an architectural position for BIR, a large private bank which allowed him to design and oversee the building of fourteen new branches within a two year period, he also served as a site architect and owner representative director at a housing project in Prichal, Turkmenistan, and South East Asia.
In 1984 Mr. Suarez moved to the United States to work on the Lincoln West Development Project, in Manhattan, New York, and continued to design commercial, residential and educational buildings in New York and New Jersey, for several architectural firms including Schaffer Designs, Emery Roth and Sons, and Fred Thomas and Associates.
In 1992 he was relocated to Naples, Florida to oversee the Barron Collier High School addition, a project of approximately 174,000 square feet and has further his career with design positions for Randall Stofft Architects, and Imperial Homes of Southwest Florida. During his tenure with Imperial Homes, one of Mr. Suarez’s designs, the Santa Ana Model, was awarded the Sand Dollar award for best design in the $2million to $3million category.
Mr. Suarez continues to expand his building designs and has recently added the creation the Queen of Peace Monastery for the Benedictine Sisters in Ave Maria University, Ave Maria, Florida and multiple custom luxury residential homes in communities including Port Royal, Old Naples, Coquina Sands, Quail West, Talis Park, and Barefoot Beach.
